The Rules of Online Blackjack

To play online blackjack you need to know the rules; there is no way around this. Of course, you could play online blackjack before you have a good grasp of the rules, but this would only end up bad for you. The fact of the matter is that you cannot become a good online blackjack unless you know each rule and how it can affect you during a game. The good thing about this is that since online blackjack is easy to learn, catching onto the rules and what they are all about is not nearly as hard as you may think.

The main object of the game of online blackjack is to get as close to 21 as you can without going over. But even though this is the primary objective, you can do one better. Your main goal should be to actually beat the dealer. If you beat the dealer you will win at online blackjack; it is that simple. Even if you are not anywhere close to 21, the fact of the matter is that when you outdo the dealer you are a winner. This is why so many people love online blackjack. It is much different than poker when you are up against other players who may have better hands than you. And even if they do not they could be bluffing and end up beating you anyway.

One of the main rules of online blackjack is to know how much the cards are worth. This is not hard to accomplish. Number cards are worth the value that you see. For instance, an eight is worth eight. Face cards are worth 10, and an ace can be worth either one or 11. The choice is yours, and you can use an ace to get the best hand possible.

After placing a bet, the dealer will give each player two cards. He or she will also get two cards; one face up and one face down. After taking a look at your cards you will have to decide on whether you want another one, or if you are going to stay put. This is when a good online blackjack strategy comes into play. If you go over 21 this is called a "bust" and you are out of the game. As you can imagine, if you have a high number such as 17 or 18 right off the bat you are in a tough spot. Getting another card may mean a bust, but not getting one could mean an easy victory for the dealer.

Keep in mind that the dealer must continue to take cards until their hand hits 17; at that point they will stop.

Now that you better know the rules of online blackjack you can get started playing.
